There's so much yummy in the blogosphere lately. I received an Excellent Award from Reb! Wahooey! Thanks so much, Reb, I'm so happy you thought of me.
Newt's Muse: Newt makes me miss the Midwest b/c her warmth & straight-talking remind me of home. She's also a shoe-goddess. One of these days we're going shoe-shopping together & I'm hoping she'll mentor me in stalking people for my WWC pics.
Notes from a Shoe Whore: Nettie has a big heart & it shines with such authenticity in her posts. Her strength & grace inspire me.
Matty's Meaty Cupboard: He's funny, compassionate, and can break people in half with his mad kungfu moves...only he doesn't. A superhero without tights.
Mind Moss: Maggie makes me laugh & feel less insane about the Bermuda Triangle that is Woman-Wife-Mother. I love her writing...marvelously unique twists & a special talent for making words so palpable & sensory.
The Oort Cloud: A writer with stars and comets in his hands.
My Heart's Porch: A word-man who puts it out there. I might be damaging Eric's sardonic, gritty impression, but I think he has a down-home heart...with a mushy center. And possibly some nuts.
Knight Ramblings: The newest addition to my blogroll. She's talented, funny, real...so easy to like & her posts have a bit of everything, always interesting & witty.
Here's the code for your award, Peeps...available in 5 colors: eggplant seed, pollen, bellybutton, albumen & sprinkle. Kidding, kidding, the colors are listed. I'm already hosting them so just copy the code into your sidebar layout & the icon will appear.
Black
White (reverse)
Gray
Sky Blue
Hot Pink
Giving out awards can be awkward. Some people might be wondering if I overlooked their fabulosity. They might be thinking, Jiminy Cricket, am I chopped liver? Or, That stupid Jo can suck it! All I can say is---OMG, you are soooo immature.
Ha ha suckas! I'm also giving out an award I created in my kitchen (seriously) for people I've become very fond of, whose blogs & comments consistently move me, make me laugh out loud...who make my world a better place. I think you're--
Cynical Bastard: Jay is a yummy love & one-of-a-kind. He's witty, hysterical, profound, and earnest in the span of just a few sentences...b/c he is genuinely all of these things, and brilliant besides. I'm a big, big fan. In fact I'm wearing a Jay is so rad t-shirt right now.
The Smitten Image: Hilary is good for my soul. I see her in the poignant photos she takes. Clear, accessible, empathetic...and then there are all these layers--humor & a sharp intelligence, mischief, deep insight. Not one poem, but many. And she writes with such easy eloquence. Our friendship feels older than it is.
Forks Off the Moment: Dianne is one of those rare people I always hope is in the world, and that is why when I met her I felt recognition. She makes me snort-laugh & on several occasions has choked me up with tears---just a singularly beautiful person. She brings dignity to all-things-human, and wraps it in easy laughter so you feel you're a part of it too.
Sibu Pegasus Power: Often when I have great respect for a person, especially if she has more common sense in her little finger than I do in my big melonhead, it can be a little intimidating. It's different with Reb. She's just so real and dear. Her wisdom & quiet nobility humble me...that in itself is a gift, but mixed in with all of it is a very funny, soulful lady.
Pickled Beef: Tink is all the great things about sunshine, including the sometimes-twisted, complicated shadows. She's hilarious in the way that only very smart people can be, charismatic, honest, perceptive. No baloney with her...except the kind that has those weird cheese dots so you know you're dealing with something kooky. That baloney is important.
Remaindered Random Musings: Frank's dry humor always makes me laugh. He speaks in a clear, true voice...a great storyteller you instantly trust, follow...and quietly you end up in a different place--moved, richer. I suspect he toys with the idea he's a curmudgeon but his heart is too big.
Man Overboard: Scott has such an inspiring, beautiful way with his family--he is so energetic, earnest & joyful...and he makes it look easy. He puts his compassion into practice; I think he has such a fine character...a real man with more than a bit of an angel in him, with a wicked sense of humor. And if that isn't enough, he takes amazing photographs.
Ramblings of a Madman: REH is a bundle of complex goodies--romanticism, grit, domesticity, creativity that often leans towards the dark, a personality that inspires laughter, loyalty, empathy. It's very special the way these contrasts come together in him & make sense. He shares his life courageously, and isn't afraid to dig deeper.
Good lord, that was exhausting--who has the big head now? I'm so lucky to have met such a special group of people.
Here's the code for your pat of butter, already hosted, ready to paste into your sidebar layout.

21 blurbs:
Jo, you are so sweet. Thank you so much for your lovely words and sentiment. It means a great deal to me. You've probably noticed that I typically shy away from posting these award images, but yours is so beautifully expressed.. and I'll wear it with pride.
I feel the same way about the connection between us and am thrilled that I followed the link (hi Tink!) that brought me here so early in your blogging career. ;)
Thank you.
P.S. You're SO right about Frank and his self-proclaimed curmudgeonhood. Too funny.
Thanks for being so kind Jo! I was ready to view exactly what bellybutton would look like in my blog sidebar. Ha. I also love the image of you standing in the kitchen molding butter with a cookie cutter just to get that perfect photo while a squirrel longingly watches you from the window. Can't wait to check out all these blogs now!
You totally rock.
And I can only imagine how freaking sexy you look in that "Jay is So Rad" t-shirt!
Jo, not only are you a supremely gifted writer but your perspicacity is rivaled only by your beauty, intelligence and grace.
I suppose you don’t, by any chance, happen to enjoy cleaning fish?
;)
You do me too much honour. Thank you.
I was over at Jay's place and immediately noticed his heart butter pat and I squealed when I saw it was from you. Jay is butter in all its goodness and richness and I know he adores you so the whole thing just made me happy.
Then I came here and saw you are triple E and that made me even happier and I started to bookmark the sites you mentioned, most I visit already but I'm excited about the new ones.
And then I see me - and in all that fabulous company and your words were like a giant hug. Thank you so much. Life is all about connection and you are one of most wondrous connections I have made in all my many years.
One last thing you should do - you must tell Jay that you were wearing nothing BUT the t-shirt. Wait - that was probably understood.
I heart you. As they say in Brooklyn - "you're like budderh"
Jo, I don't know what to say! You made me laugh out loud at your description of me.
I am honoured to have been given an award by you and in such stellar company. Thank you so much.
**I read some of these comments before bed this morning & started misting up...by the time I got to Frank's, I was blowing my nose very elegantly & blotting myself with tissues. You're honoring me at your own awards show--Crazy People!**
Hilary: I'm so glad you're going to wear the butter! I should be modest too but what I really want to do is put blinking arrows on my blog that point to the awards :D It must be so fun for you to watch Frank try...
Knight: What a brilliant idea--I should have had an actual bellybutton show up instead of the E award LOL! I love the idea of some of my bloggie friends discovering each other :)
Jay: LOLOL I have matching underpants too: Hola, Bitches! You know those celebrity tards are totally going to want my t-shirt...you're going to be a LEGEND out here, Jay.
Oh, my - I'm speechless! What a wonderful award, and wonderful words to describe me.
I thank you with all of my heart, and like Knight said - I can picture you there in the kitchen preparing the butter for the photoshoot. You really put some work into this award!
And, now I shall check out some of those other winners!
Again - Thanks!
Frank: That meant a great deal to me coming from you :) And about the fish--sure, I just squirt them with Febreze, easy-peasy! I have mad fishing skills, you know...it's the only time I don't talk a blue-streak so my parents had me fishing nearly every day when I was a kid.
Dianne: Triple E! Just like my bra size LOL! I heart you too :) Lovin the accent, I'm going to practice it, get some street cred...snort-snort.
Reb: You can laugh all you want & it's still true!
REH: Butter was everywhere! The heart is in the fridge b/c I can bring myself to use it now LOL I'm happy you liked your award :)
Woops--meant to say: can't bring myself to use it :P
Are those real colors? Because if they are I want them explained to me.
Thank you very much. It's a little known secret that I actually love recognition and approval, so this is great. Now I just need to pick a color.
Oh my goodness, I am blushing here alone at 3am. Thank you for the award and the extremely kind words!!!
Eric: What, you can't picture those colors? :P Crayola should have contacted me when they were renaming their crayons.
All this niceness is confusing me...you can kick sand on me tomorrow.
Birdman: You're welcome! I'm glad I made you blush :)
I'm making my way down my list of fabulous reads and finally come to your blog. To my shock, I have been given and award. What you said about me brought me to tears. Thank you so very much...I am humbled. (who would have thought that and E could make someone feel so freaking good about themselves?) Hot pink of course!
Aw! Thank you, Jo. That just made my day. Who knew I could get so misty over being compared to holey baloney. ;)
Thanks so much for my award. It's my first one ever! I'm as giddy as a schoolgirl. Plus, I get to play with code. Fun!
Again, thanks. Such fine company to be included in.
Wait. WTF? I'm not better than butter? Goddammit.
Just kidding. Thank you.
Awww, thanks. I'm, awwww. Wow.
Nettie: I'm so glad it made you feel good, just returning the favor :) Hot pink of course!
Tink: It's not holey unless you pop out the cheese dots LOL---I do that too...like baloney bubblewrap!
Clowncar: Oh yay, your first! I'm having fun picturing you giddy...it's not quite working, skipping is involved :D
Maggie: Don't make me put that E up your nose!
Newt: If I could've given you shoes with it, I would have. No wait, I think you should give me shoes. I'm 7-1/2. :D
